People Who Don’t Know They’re Dead

William James says that at the moment of death we slip out of our physical body as we might an overcoat, that we continue to exist in the form around which our physical bodies originally grew – our spirit body. He says there is no sudden change of personality and our surroundings appear as before. We are, in fact, exactly where we were. And the essence of who we are continues.
