Ananda was founded by Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Yogananda. Kriyananda was inspired by his guru to start 'World Brotherhood Colonies'. Ananda, and its sister colonies throughout the world, are the fulfillment of Yogananda's dream. See Chapter 48, in this 1946 edition, to read Yogananda's own words on World Brotherhood Colonies.
At the age of 22, Swami Kriyananda began the adventure of his lifetime: the search for joy in God. His guide was the great yogi, Paramhansa Yogananda. In the 57 years since, Kriyananda has become one of Yogananda’s foremost disciples, inspiring thousands all over the world.
Every Sunday at 11am, Ananda residents meet for meditation, chanting, readings, and a sermon by one of the Ananda ministers. Enjoy the most recent sermon, or one from the past two months. All the streaming video and audio requires RealPlayer.
