Weltweit bekannt geworden ist die Insel vor allem durch ihre Kolossal-Statuen, die sogenannten Moai. Entstanden sind sie vermutlich etwa in der Zeit von 1000 bis 1700, möglicherweise auch nur bis ca. 1500. Über die gesamte Insel verteilt gibt es mehr als 600 von ihnen. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen sind die Steinfiguren einander zum Verwechseln ähnlich, Rümpfe mit überproportional großem Kopf, markantem Kinn, tiefen Augenhöhlen und langen Ohren.

1. Can we place a mirror opposite a door, so as to reflect Qi and disallow Qi from moving in?
2. Can a mirror counter Sha Qi, in other words, will a mirror disable any bad influence if you hang it facing an ugly influence?
To investigate this, a related question could very well be, can a window block Qi, or can a door block Qi? Well, windows and doors cannot block Qi, just as mirrors cannot reflect Qi. Mirrors reflect light, and light is just part of Qi.
Not even our planet can block Qi. Let us then first examine what Qi is.

Borobudur Temple, the world's largest Buddhist temple compound, build around 800 AD and restored between 1973-1983. Total size of the temple walls was 2,500 square meters. The total number of panels with relief was 1,212.

The Phoenix hall, shown here, was constructed in 1053 by the Fujiwara regents. It is all that remains of an enormous Buddhist temple of the Pure Land sect that has all but vanished. Surviving Pure Land paintings from the 11th century often portray buildings like the one above, suggesting Byodoin is a literal representation of the Buddhist "Western Paradise".
