Visions of Mars

Here is another new "Message from Earth" Project:

In May of 2008, the spacecraft Phoenix will land in the northern polar regions of the planet Mars. One after the other, the spacecraft's scientific instruments will come alive, and begin their search for water ice in the harsh Martian environment.

Nestled among busy instruments, a small and very special DVD will wait patiently for its turn. This unique DVD is made of silica glass, and designed to last hundreds if not thousands of years into the future, when its true mission will commence. It carries nothing less than a message from our world to one centuries away, when humans will roam the Red Planet.

In a unique project called Visions of Mars, the Phoenix DVD will carry personal messages from visionaries of our own time to future visitors or settlers on Mars. There is Carl Sagan, near his home in Ithaca, New York, addressing the future Martians with a cascading water fall in the background. There is Arthur Clarke seated in the comfort of his home in tropical Sri Lanka. There is Planetary Society Executive Director Louis Friedman, speaking from Society headquarters in Pasadena, and there is Phoenix mission PI, Peter Smith, providing mission information and a greeting to the future.

Your name can be there with Them.

Join our age's visionaries of space exploration by adding your name to this remarkable message to the future! From now until February 1, 2007, The Planetary Society is collecting names, which will travel to Mars on the Phoenix DVD. When the Martians of the future find and decode our message to them, your name will be there too, a permanent record of your part in the story of space.

Remember: This Is Your Time Capsule

Two weeks ago I posted at The Yahoo Time Capsule.
I love the idea! Just appreciate what Yahoo is doing and view it as one step closer to world peace and the world banding together as one. I wish more companies would use there corporate dollars to unify the global village and create art.

The plan has changed a little bit - after Mexican officials refused to allow a laser transmitter to be mounted on an ancient pyramid, on Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán.

Now the Yahoo Time Capsule project being projected onto canyon walls and sent into space via a digital laser light beam at Jemez Pueblo, N.M., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006. People from more than 200 countries have contributed over 70,000 pictures, video, writing, art and sounds to the ongoing project, which is accepting submissions until Nov. 8, 2006.

Throughout the evenings of Oct. 25-27, select submissions will be displayed continuously on the canyon walls where the Jemez Nation has lived since the 13th century.

Can't get off work to trek to New Mexico?
Don't worry, the entire event will be webcast live. Here are the details:

* When: October 25-27, 2006
* Where: Live from the Pueblo of Jemez, New Mexico
* Time: 7PM-1AM U.S. Mountain Time

The webcast will be archived and available all day if you miss the live show.

Here is the archive - Enjoy!

Well, here are some nice examples:

From a male in his 60s in Santa Fe NM, United States: "Because on some Special days, some Special One just... sparkles. And that reminds you of how fun EVERY day can be if we just remember to do it. To light it up when we have the chance. That's Suzie."

From a male in Malaysia: "I wish for the world to stop launching war against each other. I hope for world peace where everyone can live with a smile everyday, everytime, everywhere with everyone."

From a female in Metro Manila, Philippines: "What's beautiful is not on the outside, but on the inside. Beauty can be expressed in emotions, and emotions seen in a picture are beautiful, whether it's unlikeable or likeable. Everybody have their own different points of view."

The Yahoo Time Capsule & Cosmic Connexion

The Yahoo Time Capsule

Share a piece of your world and be part of history in the making. This first-ever collection of electronic anthropology captures the voices, images, and stories of the online global community. Contribute. Explore. Discover. This is your Time Capsule: One World. Many Voices.

For 30 days, from October 10 until November 8, Yahoo! users worldwide can contribute photos, writings, videos, audio – even drawings – to this electronic anthropology project. This is the first time that digital data will be gathered and preserved for historical purposes.

Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán

In addition to submitting your own content, you can view, read, or hear the images, words, and sounds contributed by users from around the world.

Before we deliver the Time Capsule to Washington D.C., we’ll project the capsule contents onto one of the world’s oldest time capsules, the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, Mexico, and beam it into space from the pyramid. Wow. This will take place October 25-27, and you can watch it live via web cast.

We’ve consulted with cultural and educational leaders in Mexico to create a special event that while respectful of ancient cultures and historic traditions, also creates the world’s largest video monitor. Using state-of-the-art projection technology, and guided by a team of Teotihuacán site historians and archeologists, we’ll use the face of this 246-foot tall pyramid to create a light show visible from space.

The Yahoo Time Capsule

A similar project was launched in Germany, September, 30tz, called Cosmic Connexion.

Im Anschluss an die ARTE-Sendung CosmicConnexion im Herbst 2006 werden alle veröffentlichten Botschaften über einen Sender des französischen Raumfahrtzentrums CNES ins Weltall gesendet.

The messages published will all be sent into space by a CNES space centre antenna after the CosmicConnexion evening to be broadcast on ARTE in autumn 2006.

Peace Day - September 21

The Peace One Day (POD) film project began as the vision of one man, British filmmaker, Jeremy Gilley. Launched in September 1999, POD gained active support from all sectors of society, from governments through to individuals. In September 2001, POD achieved its primary objective.

A United Nations General Assembly resolution (A/Res/55/282), put forward by the UK and Costa Rican governments, was unanimously adopted by all UN member states, formally establishing an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace, fixed in the global calendar on 21 September - Peace Day.

All sectors of society are being asked to honour and celebrate the Day on 21 September. The vision of the Day extends far beyond the cessation of violent conflict and represents an opportunity for individuals to join in a moment of global unity.

Peace One Day - The Film.
Watch the six one-minute infomercials used to raise awareness of the Day around the world.
And here is a Trailer at Google Video.

At 12 noon on September 21st, let us take one Minute of Silence together for peace and nonviolence - in our homes, schools, businesses, or street corners, wherever we are.

"September 21, the International Day of Peace, is a day on which we reaffirm our commitment to this quest...
It is meant to be a day of global cease-fire, when all countries and all people stop all hostilities for the entire day.
And it is a day on which people around the world observe a minute of silence at 12 noon local time.
Twenty-four hours is not a long time.
But it is... long enough to look over the barricades, or through the barbed wire, to see if there is another path."

2006 Glastonbury Symposium

The 2006 Glastonbury Symposium kicks off this weekend. Speakers include Alan Alford, Andy Thomas and Graham Hancock - the event is pretty much a sell-out, but if you're in the area and interested, there may be tickets at the door for individual lectures.

Hopefully there'll be some audio or at least an article about it after the event, for us poor people which lives on somewhere else on the globe.

Project Avebury, July 22nd, 2006

This is the planet where spirits experience the three-dimensional physical density and where they have the abilitiy of free choice. It is a planet of beauty and abundance of different physical 'life-forms' on various levels of physical development.

This planet is home. This planet is a cosmic fief - it is a precious.
This planet cannot be owned by anyone, only inhabited.
This planet is our Mother and our nursery.

Let us go on helping her to avoid further suffering from new wounds and to heal the older fester wounds. Let us remind us of our great spiritual abilities - and power - as our spirits are tiny mirrors which reflect the Great Spirit.

Now more than ever. Look around.

So please join in our Great Meditation on July 22nd, 2006 at 11:00pm British Summer Time.

You may wish to sit at home or go to your favourite place outside at a tree, beside a well, river, lake, coast or on top of a sacred mound, hill or mountain. Calm down at the given time for one hour and help to create a hull of white light around our planet. Feel then how all the others on time around the globe are doing the same and how we all together become more and more powerful. Then choose a target where you think that your spiritual help is most needed. Pour down your positive energy and help to make a change there.

Carpe Diem Urban Yoga

What yoga and Carpe Diem have in common?

Precisely in today's modern world, where we often do not get enough movement, it is important to keep the body strong and flexible at the same time. Spirit and soul should be strengthened in order to take on the challenges of our daily life. Yoga can do both. Yoga teaches us how to attain a state of peace and serenity, while at the same time building up inner strength. The golden rule of yoga is: "Do that which you can. No more and no less." This is what makes yoga a very personal experience for each and every one of us. Carpe Diem follows exactly this philosophy. The 100% natural drinks help the body and soul in the search for purity and harmony.

In keeping with the motto “Carpe Diem – seize the day”, the Carpe Diem Urban Yoga Series will take place again this summer.

These oases of peace and sources of wellbeing can be found on the rooftops of selected metropolises such as Zurich, Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Cape Town just to name a few. Top yoga instructors will hold the yoga sessions for beginners and experts alike on a weekly basis under the open sky.

For Carpe Diem Urban Yoga, look for your city and register right away for the date you like.

Retro UFO & The Integratron

The Integratron is the creation of George Van Tassel, and is based on the design of Moses’ Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials.

This one-of-a-kind building is a 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, non-metallic structure originally designed by Van Tassel as a rejuvenation and time machine. Today, it is the only all-wood, acoustically perfect sound chamber in the U.S.

This weekend the Retro UFO convention took place in Landers, CA at the site of
the Integraton, a unique domed structure created by contactee George Van Tassel in the 1950's.

For video, photos, and coverage of the event, see this article by Bettie Rinehart of the LA Times. George Knapp of KLAS-TV also recently filed a video report from the Integraton.

Fez Festival of World Sacred Music

Do you have some free time in June 2006 and want to fill it with an interesting adventure? If the answer is YES, I have a tip for you. Make a journey to Morocco to the Fez Festival, 2-10 June. "Harmonies" is the theme of the 2006 festival.

In music …

The Fes Festival is widely acclaimed as one of the world’s great musical events. Now in its 12 th year, it brings together performers from every corner of our planet for a week of artistic excellence in Morocco ’s ancient holy city. It represents the spiritual heart of Islam – peaceful, pluralistic, generous and cheerful. It honours all the world’s spiritual traditions and it dissolves musical boundaries. This year’s programme includes French classical, Sufi music from India and Pakistan , a capella spirituals from England , Japanese drumming, a Mass from Argentina and a finale from Mali ’s maestro Salif Keita. Paying performances take place under a giant Barbary oak in the gardens of the Batha Museum and in the Arabian Nights splendour of the Bab Makina palace courtyard. Free concerts are staged in the vast Bab Boujloud Square and late at night with Sufi brotherhood musicians in the Dar Tazi Gardens . A rich diversity of musical expression linked by a common theme – the harmony that we know is possible. The Fes Festival of World Sacred Music brings this into vivid focus.

Photos of the festival 2005:

In words ...
In the year 2000 the festival extended its horizons to include the Fes Encounters -- a forum where academics, politicians, religious leaders and social activists come together to share their views and experience under the rubric Giving Soul to Globalisation. In 2006 the forum asks the questions: How can culture and spirituality become levers that change our attitude towards the environment? Can we find a way to harmonise our points of view so that we can work together to resolve conflicts – or even better prevent them? The Fes Encounters dialogue aims to translate words into action and theory into practice.
