Lotus Sculpture

In five of his eight hands he holds a noose, mace, drum, cobra and trident. The trident represents the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. It is also said to represent the threefold qualities of nature: creation, preservation and destruction. He holds a cobra symbolizing the power he has over the most deadly of creatures. Snakes are also used to symbolize the Hindu dogma of reincarnation. The drum represents the rhythmic sound to which Shiva dances and ceaselessly recreates the universe.

The front left hand is in the abhaya-mudra, the "fear not" gesture, made by holding the palm outward with fingers pointing up. The front right arm is across the chest in the gahahasta (elephant trunk) pose, with the wrist limp and the fingers pointed downward toward the demon Apasmara.

African Drums

African drums were musical instruments, ceremonial objects and means of communication. The large exhibit focuses on the traditional drums of the Yoruba, Senufo, Kuba, Akan, Chokwe and other peoples, plus slit drums of the Yaka, Dan and Yangere. The drums range from everyday objects with monumental, simple forms to ornate pieces bringing status to the owner, connoting power and the honoring of ancestors.

The most impressive collection in the exhibit are the ten Yoruba ceremonial drums, all deeply carved with figures or heads:

African Drums

Traditional African artworks are often not well understood. They all served a nonartistic function, to preserve and convey beliefs and values. The masks were part of full costumes and were used with music and dance in rituals for social control, education, status or entertainment. The figures depicted ancestors or spirits, and were venerated and received offerings in exchange for protection and well being.

The Golden Buddha Mandala Meditation

The dynamic mandalas of the Golden Buddha are mandalas that reflect the nature of Light. By giving form and perceptual utterance to your self-integration of the wholly sacred and most perfectly illuminated Buddha essence, receive his image, with your eyes open, or your eyes closed. Gaze upon him, beholding living, flowing, shimmering gold.




Let go of everything… Let it all out… Allow everything to disentangle itself within you… Release it from captivity, give it the freedom it seeks – and it shall turn out to be a path that you can follow. Allow the illusion of your constant perambulation, your busy-ness, to dissipate… You journey forth in serenity… You journey without even leaving home… Reflecting upon the movement of the mandala on the screen, you remain tranquil… You are making a pilgrimage to the shrine of inner quiet… You are purging your lives… Straighten your back… push your shoulders back… position your legs and the wrists of your arms in the Buddha pose… let go of your tension… tilt your neck ever so slightly, so that your chin is inclined a touch towards your bosom… Breathe calmly and deeply… Unfocus your eyes… Begin to gaze upon the center of the mandala, gradually releasing your control over your gaze, and allowing it to lead you as it will into the inner space of the mandala… Do not think about the past… Do not think about the future… Do not think about that, which is the subject of your meditation… Do not allow yourself to think that the Void is a blankness, a nothing. The Void is not nothing, it is rather the Law of Being…

The mandala is believed to be an invention of the Buddhists. Carl Gustav Jung first called the attention of Western cultural scholars to this phenomenon, having come across its presence in the subconscious of his patients. “When I discovered what mandala means, I arrived at the ultimate knowledge,” was Jung’s admission. So what was it, then, that the most influential psychologist of the 20th century had discovered about the mandala? Shambhala Meditation Healing Tools

Metatron Meditation Pyramid:
Formed from two large tetrahedrons that are merged, forming a 6 pointed star at the base. A tetrahedron sits at each of the 6 points of the star, and a Clear Quartz Etheric Weaver hangs in each Corner Tetrahedron. It is 6' 11" high with a base that is 8' x 9' 3" and is normally used for a seated meditation.

The pyramid is an invocation to the 7 Archangels and comes with Archangel cards to attach to the Clear Etheric Weavers. What's the difference between signs and symbols anyway?

Normally, the two terms are interchangeable - but here's a basic run-down:

SIGNS:
These are objects or ideas that point to something clearly. Examples: An advertisement, a road sign, the weather showing portents of rain.

These are linked to signs (hence the tendency to interchange the meaning of the two terms). However, their meanings are deeper. Symbols are reflections of something more profound than itself. Example: The sun is a symbol for something more than itself – it "symbolizes" warmth, creativity, and power.

Some signs and symbols speak strongly to us, and represent powerful attributes we want to ascribe to ourselves. Such signs and symbols - ones that come to us by our sheer personal needs or preference, are often more important than those assigned to us at birth
