Ancient Astronauts

Did "ancient astronauts" build Egypt’s magnificent pyramids, Britain’s mystical Stonehenge and the giant "moai" heads on Easter Island? In the absence of man-made proof to the contrary, some UFO theorists find this idea very compelling.

Ancient carvings or pictures that seem to show modern technological devices, like spacesuits, helmets and rocket ships would seem to be powerful evidence of visits by ancient astronauts or highly technological societies that have since gone missing.

Does a figurine or drawing that resembles a helmeted spaceman mean that this is what the artist intended? Or was he carving a man wearing a mask related to some ancient ritual. Or does the drawing simply have no meaning other that what came from the artist's imagination? We are free to speculate about ancient astronauts, but we should be aware that their may well be other explanations for what we are seeing.

This documentary is NOT related to the most famous advocate Erich von Däniken. "Ancient Astronauts" was produced by Glenn Krowczyk, Beyond Productions, for TLC 1999. Runtime 52 minutes.

Bliss - Quiet Letters

It has been nearly 2 years since Music for Dreams and Bliss released their debut album "Afterlife" in Denmark. It was a huge success in Denmark, but the album was never relased internationally. Only the track "Kissing" was compiled on more than 30 compilations and was released internationally.

So the international appeal is out there, and Bliss has become one of the true chill-out undergrounds classics.

The latest international release, entitled "Quiet Letters", include some of the finest moments from "Afterlife"plus recordings from the past 2 years.

It's a chill out masterpiece, featuring guest vocals by Zero 7's Sophie Barker, rooted in a fine collage of western, African and classical musical influences. Bliss has inspired comparisons to Sade, Norah Jones, Enya and Ennio Morricone. "Quiet Letters" is described by Buddha Bar's DJ Ravin as "The Album of the Year", one of those albums that you have always been looking for without ever finding.

An album that transports you far beyond the beaches of Ibiza, on a travel through African soul, Scandinavian jazz, and ethereal pop.

This is ultra chill. Catch some Bliss!

Wish U Were Here - 6'16

Remeber the "Buddha-Boy"? He's back:
Nepal Buddha Boy 'sighted again' by BBC. With Video.
Elsewhere: Nepal's mystery "Buddha boy" reappears by Reuters.
Bamjon disappeared in March from the forests in nearby Ratanpuri village where he had reportedly been meditating without food or water for almost 10 months. "I have been wandering in the forests since then," Shrestha quoted Bamjon as telling him. "I am engaged in devotion which will continue for six years," the boy told Shrestha.

Ancient pyramids discovered in Bosnia by The Register.
Of course, the cynical sceptics amongst you may feel that claims like these are so fantastic as to be unbelievable, but that is not the case.

We believe the reason the claims are unbelievable is more simple; they are wrong. How can we be so sure? We have been talking to Professor John Parker of Cambridge University, the director of the Botanic Garden and also Professor of Botany at St Catharine's College. He's actually travelled there and seen the evidence first hand.

Why death may no longer be a fact of life by The Scottsman.
It is a mystery older than Methuselah: why are we born to die after our allotted three-score years and ten? Now scientists have discovered how genetic damage to cells and our ability to carry out repairs are the major factors in determining how long we will live.

Cargo Cults Alive and Kicking by Ohmy News.
Rituals that seem at first to be incomprehensible, later make perfect sense. They're intended "to persuade the gods to send cargo." Richard Dawkins explores this interesting aberration in human beings from page 202 of his book. He notes that several cargo cults sprang up during the same period all over the world. David Attenborough indicates cults springing up in New Caledonia, Fiji, the Solomon islands, the New Hebrides (Vanuatu) and "over fifty [cults] in New Guinea."

Strange and Alien Forms by Astrobiology Magazine.
"I do think astrobiology, as an inherently interdisciplinary activity, is ready for new definitions of life. I look at the panel, and we have astronomers and chemists and philosophers, and an encephalopod-guy turned into a preacher -- a bunch of people who are ready to think about life in a different way."

The Great Alien Debate: Last part in a VII part series:
How Can We Find Alien Life? by Astrobiology Magazine.
But if you're looking for life on another world, what do you look for? If you think that life is likely to be like life on Earth, then you look for that kind of life. And if you don't think that, then you try and figure out something more universal that life might do to its environment that you could look for. Or maybe you do a little of both.

Courthouse Ghost Caught on Tape? by WPTZ.

Her spirit lives on by The Scotsman.
More than 50 years ago, an ordinary young woman thought she heard a voice instructing her to "build a garden". She thought she was going crazy, but the voice continued. She decided to listen, dropped what she was doing, moved into a caravan and built the garden. This is the story of Eileen Caddy, who died aged 89 last week and was one of the legendary founders of Findhorn.

It is possible to respect the believers but not the belief by The Guardian.
In the next few days, hundreds of millions of people will, like me, go to sing, often with gusto and delight, lines they do not believe or, at best, only half-believe. According to a recent Harris opinion poll for the Financial Times, only one in three people in Britain say they are "a believer".

African children 'at risk of ritual abuse' by BBC.
A cursory glance at the classified section of the ethnic press reveals a myriad of spiritual healers making some remarkable claims. Considered "conduits of God" by some, they claim to be able help return a loved one, cure impotency and infertility, help advance your career and even make you wealthy. One such spiritualist says he can cast away "evil influences and bad luck", another will break voodoo and black magic curses and several others offer exorcisms.

Do Extra-terrestrials Exist? by The Canadian.
Scientists have claimed that with billions of stars in the universe, intelligent life beyond Earth is certain. With this in mind, millions of people have witnessed evidence of an Extra-terrestrial (ET) presence either in person or through verifiably untampered video footage.
This evidence continues to run into a dissembled gamut of denial by the Establishment. The main question of the many people who remain sceptical of an extra-terrestrial presence, pivots on the enquiry, as to why would such an extra-terrestrial presence be denied.

Video of crashed UFO in Russia leaks from secret KGB files by Pravda.
"At first everyone believed that those debris were part of some novelty aircraft manufactured in the United States or England," said Pavel Klimchenkov a former KGB Operative, "but having done some measurements & material analysis, we came to the conclusion that none of the domestic or foreign manufacturers known to us could have produced this apparatus, at least not in the conditions existing on this planet."

The Great Alien Debate: Part V in a VII part series:
Debating Life’s Boundaries by Astrobiology Magazine.
I’m going to try to get a discussion going on what is “life as we know it.” Can we put any boundaries around this? We’ve had suggestions all the way from lunar rovers and the sun to different solvents, to even the idea that we don’t know enough biology to even pose the question, “What is life?” So who would like to take the first stab at that?

Winter Solstice

In astronomy, the solstice is either of the two times a year when the Sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator, the great circle on the celestial sphere that is on the same plane as the earth's equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs either December 21 or 22, when the sun shines directly over the tropic of Capricorn; the summer solstice occurs either June 21 or 22, when the sun shines directly over the tropic of Cancer.

In 2006 at precisely December 22, 00:22 GTM (December 21, 7:22 P.M. EST) winter begins in the Northern Hemisphere and summer begins in the Southern Hemisphere.

Aborigines, Astroarchaeologists, Atheists, Celts, Druids, Native Americans, Pagans, Shamans, Wiccans, Witches, and others, will be celebrating the world's oldest holiday.

Winter Solstice Sun by EPOD

Some web sites featuring good information on the Winter Solstice:

Long before the dawn of any of the modern Judeo-Christian-Islamic faiths, rituals followed a more simplistic path. Guided by the natural cycle of birth-life-death-and-renewal, the ancients marked their seasons by celebrating each phase of the wheel of life. Both male and female principals, God and Goddess, were honored. Each was given honor as the sun and moon entwined in their cosmic dance.
