Ursi's Eso Garden

Many Native American sites throughout the Southwest United States offer a glimpse of the importance the sun played in religious practices and ceremonies. Pueblo Bonito is the most recognized and studied site in Chaco Canyon.

A National Monument since 1907, the 'great house' shows many of the distinctive architectural elements of pueblo architecture, including planned layouts, large rooms and many circular chambers known as kivas.

The eruption occurred 3,600 years ago on the Santorini archipelago, whose largest island is Thera. Santorini is located in the Aegean Sea about 125 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of modern-day Greece. Writing in this week's issue of the journal Eos, a team of Greek and U.S. researchers estimate that the volcano released 14 cubic miles (60 cubic kilometers) of magma—six times more than the infamous 1883 eruption of Krakatau (Krakatoa).

The drawings show different aspects of the alien abduction phenomenon and include:
- cruel medical procedures performed on children,
- children boarding alien spacecraft with other aliens,
- children playing with alien/hybrid children so the alien/hybrids can learn how to be human,

In the Ten Oxherding Pictures a little child and an ox are depicted. The ox is the essential self which we are seeking. The little child represents the self of the phenomenal world which wants very much to grasp the essential self - not through concepts and thoughts, but as it really is.

The Ten Oxherding Pictures have concretely depicted the process in which the imperfect, limited, and relative self (the little child) awakens to the perfect, unlimited, and absolute essential self (the ox), grasps it, tames it, forgets it, and completely incorporates it into the personality. But we must stress that these pictures and verses are merely an indication of the way to practice and not an object for conceptual thought. Thus, the study of the Ten Ox-herding Pictures is very useful for those who are actually striving to make clear the true self in Zen through the actual sitting with aching legs. But for those who want only to learn the rationale of Zen I must warn that these pictures and words will be only "white elephants" of no use whatsoever.

Die Geschichte handelt von einem Ochsen und einem jungen Hirten. Der Ochse steht für das wesenhafte Selbst, nach dem wir suchen. Der junge Hirte repräsentiert das Ich der Erscheinungswelt auf der Suche nach dem wesenhaften Selbst, und zwar dem wirklichen Selbst, nicht nur Konzepte und Gedanken darüber.

Die Serie der zehn Bilder vom Ochsenhirten beschreibt sehr konkret den Prozess, in welchem das kleine, begrenzte, unvollkommene und relative Ich, der kleine Hirte, zum vollkommenen, unbegrenzten und absoluten Selbst, dem Ochsen, erwacht, den Ochsen ergreift, zähmt und dann wieder vergißt, um ihn schließlich ganz in seine Persönlichkeit einzuverleiben. Dabei dürfen wir aber nicht vergessen, daß diese Bilder und Verse den Entwicklungsgang nur beschreiben, aber nicht selbst ein Gegenstand konzeptuellen Denkens sein sollen. Für diejenigen, welche sich mithilfe der Zenübung, einschließlich der schmerzenden Beine, um eine Klärung des wahren Selbst bemühen, kann die Beschäftigung mit diesen Ochsenbildern also durchaus nützlich sein.
