Ancient Observatories

Many Native American sites throughout the Southwest United States offer a glimpse of the importance the sun played in religious practices and ceremonies. Pueblo Bonito is the most recognized and studied site in Chaco Canyon.

A National Monument since 1907, the 'great house' shows many of the distinctive architectural elements of pueblo architecture, including planned layouts, large rooms and many circular chambers known as kivas.

One of the most famous Incan cities in the world, sun alignments are found throughout Machu Picchu. Many features, including the Sacred Plaza, The Temple of Three Windows and The Intihuatana platform, align with the summer solstice azimuth of 65-245 degrees.

Scientists believe these alignments were primary considerations in the construction of the shrines. A shaft of light, shining through an east-facing window, reportedly illuminates The Torreon, or Temple of the Sun, during the summer solstice.

Scholar: Iliad, Odyssey Penned by Woman by Discovery News.
"In many oral traditions, the best and most reliable creators, the ones who are used by folklore collectors, happen to be women." Dalby explained that women throughout the ancient world were "often the last and most skillful exponents of an oral tradition." For example, the world’s first named poet was a Sumerian woman named Enheduanna, who lived from around 2285-2250 B.C. Dalby said women also saved the ancient oral poetry of the northern Japanese, many Irish traditions, and numerous English folk ballads.

"Atlantis" Eruption Twice as Big as Previously Believed, Study Suggests by National Geographic News.

The eruption occurred 3,600 years ago on the Santorini archipelago, whose largest island is Thera. Santorini is located in the Aegean Sea about 125 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of modern-day Greece. Writing in this week's issue of the journal Eos, a team of Greek and U.S. researchers estimate that the volcano released 14 cubic miles (60 cubic kilometers) of magma—six times more than the infamous 1883 eruption of Krakatau (Krakatoa).

Dig unearths round table evidence at Windsor Castle by The Independent.
Evidence of a building linked to the myth of King Arthur and the knights of the round table has been found at Windsor Castle. The circular structure was built by Edward III in the 14th century to house the round table intended to seat the original 300 Knights of the Garter. Archaeological proof of the building was uncovered by members of Channel 4's Time Team in the castle's quadrangle.

Native American Rock Art

The Ecstatic Shaman

The radiant hair of this small figure identifies it as an entranced shaman. Hair, because of its growth and regeneration, is one of the most magical parts of the human body, and is therefore thought to be vulnerable to supernatural influences. This superstition is expressed in the Biblical tale of Samson, whose power resided in his uncut hair, and in folk magic that considers hair and nail clippings necessary for many charms and spells. Many of the inverted flying or falling figures in the Pecos River style pictographs are shown with streaming unbound hair, one of the characteristics that

illustrates the symbolic flight of the shaman between the worlds of the living and the dead; the shaman at the height of his mystical power and immune to attack by evil spirits. This figure from Panther Cave is duplicated at nearby Lookout Shelter, and at Rattlesnake Canyon on the Rio Grande above Langtry. Variations on the theme of unbound hair are found throughout the Lower Pecos region in Texas and northern Coahuila.

White Shaman: Bird on Hand

Adjacent to the profile shaman is another of the rare white shamans, shown in the traditional frontal pose. On his arm he bears what appears to be a bird. Birds are traditional messengers, and culture heroes are often assisted by their winged familiars who serve as their far-seeing eyes. A more prosaic explanation may be that this is the portrait of one particular shaman whose trademark was a tamed bird. Many of the shaman figures are drawn with objects hanging from or sitting on their arms. Clearly not all of them are birds, but they may represent various medicine bundles or charms which, in historic times, were often carried in pouches.

The Rock Art Foundation (RAF) exists to promote the conservation and study of the Native American rock art in the Lower Pecos region of Southwest Texas.

Advanced Astrology & Uranian Astrology

You know the meanings of the planets, the meanings of the zodiacal signs, and the meanings of the houses. Probably, you can talk about the Sun or other planets in each of the twelve signs, and the Sun or other planets in each of the twelve houses. Those are details.
My basic approach to reading the chart-as-a-whole starts with a count of the triplicities, the polarities, the quadruplicities, and house residents. I need to know how many planets are in fire signs, earth signs, air signs, and water signs. Similarly, I need to know how many planets are in cardinal, fixed, or mutable signs.

Advanced Astrology
by Arlene Kramer.

Astrology must continue to evolve. The world is changing and traditional astrology does not provide all the answers. The Uranian System of astrology is practical and productive. For the past 75 years, it has provided answers and precision not available elsewhere.

The Uranian System of astrology, as practiced in the United States, has its roots in the work of Alfred Witte, the founder of The Hamburg School of Astrology. His genius is credited with the introduction of a movable dial with which to examine a horoscope, the reintroduction of several discarded but worthwhile ancient techniques, and with the postulation of "planets" beyond the orbit of Neptune.

Tree Totem and Birchfire’s Herbs

"Toterm Tree" by Gavan Kearney

Trees whispered their presence in simple vitality and in silent virtues. I became in awe of the life that they were sharing with the rest of the world.

The living tree was singing communication in all nuances of senses, but until that very instance of realization, I knew I had been deaf and closed, selfish to my own singularity and unable to truly share and witness with others. The Trees opened me to a World beyond my own humanity. This is what I wish to share with you.

Aliens and Children

Well, I'll be blowed!! He does believe that? This is such an incredible story on this rather bizarre little website, so I must post it here.

This website features a series of drawings made by children who were abducted by aliens for the alien purpose of creating a new race of alien/human hybrids.

The drawings show different aspects of the alien abduction phenomenon and include:
- cruel medical procedures performed on children,
- children boarding alien spacecraft with other aliens,
- children playing with alien/hybrid children so the alien/hybrids can learn how to be human,
- children being taken by aliens against their will, and
- the types of aliens encountered by the abducted children.

Also there is a six minute video, an interview with mother, child, and inventor by NBC Affiliate, Seattle KING5 TV. Further an interview with Prof. David Jacobs, an article why aliens abduct humans and how to make a thought screen helmet that stops alien from abducting humans ... and of course a real photo from a real alien (scroll down) ...

Bardo Thodol - The Tibetan Book of the Dead

The Bardo Thodol, Liberation through Hearing in the Intermediate State, traditionally but inaccurately called the Tibetan Book of the Dead, is a funerary text that describes the experiences of the consciousness after death during the interval known as bardo between death and rebirth.

Abstract: Short description of the travel.

Here is The Tibetan Book of the Dead as an E-book by Summum. English translation by Lāma Kazi Dawa-Samdup. Compiled and Edited by W. Y. Evans-Wentz.

Further The Tibetan Book of the Dead by the University of Virginia Library. Special collection with the original Sanskrit texts, scroll paintings and more.

The following documentary video is worth the time to watch, so I’m sharing it here.

Part 1: A Way of Life reveals the history of The Tibetan Book of the Dead and examines its traditional use in northern India, as well as its acceptance in Western hospices. Shot over a four-month period, the film contains footage of the rites and liturgies for a deceased Ladakhi elder and includes an interview with the Dalai Lama, who shares his views on the book's meaning and importance.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead: A Way of Life - Part 1

This streaming video takes 47 minutes.

Part 2: The Great Liberation follows an old lama and his novice monk as they guide a Himalayan villager into the afterlife using readings from The Tibetan Book of the Dead. The soul's 49-day journey towards rebirth is envisioned through actual photography of rarely seen Buddhist rituals, interwoven with groundbreaking animation by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Ishu Patel.

The Ten Oxherding Pictures / Die Zehn-Ochsenbilder

An Overview at Buddhanet: The Ten Oxherding Pictures which relate back to a Ch'an master in the Sung dynasty China (1126-1279 AD), have spiritual roots in the early Buddhist texts. They provide useful imagery of an illusion to be negated before a seeker of truth can experience enlightenment. The ox symbolize the mind and the herder symbolizes the seeker. The graphic designer Hor Tuck Loon has given these pictures a contemporary treatment.

Another nice overview: Ten Oxherding Pictures by Panlatrevo.

In the Ten Oxherding Pictures a little child and an ox are depicted. The ox is the essential self which we are seeking. The little child represents the self of the phenomenal world which wants very much to grasp the essential self - not through concepts and thoughts, but as it really is.

The Ten Oxherding Pictures have concretely depicted the process in which the imperfect, limited, and relative self (the little child) awakens to the perfect, unlimited, and absolute essential self (the ox), grasps it, tames it, forgets it, and completely incorporates it into the personality. But we must stress that these pictures and verses are merely an indication of the way to practice and not an object for conceptual thought. Thus, the study of the Ten Ox-herding Pictures is very useful for those who are actually striving to make clear the true self in Zen through the actual sitting with aching legs. But for those who want only to learn the rationale of Zen I must warn that these pictures and words will be only "white elephants" of no use whatsoever.

Deutsche Version:

Auroville - Matrimandir - The soul of the city

Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity.

The city-in-the-making is located on the Coromandel Coast in south India. It draws its inspiration from the vision and work of the renowned Indian seer and spiritual visionary, Sri Aurobindo. His spiritual collaborator, The Mother, founded the township in 1968.

Auroville is a place, for more than 36 years, an increasing number of people from all over the world have been quietly and painstakingly working on the construction of a new township, a new way of living, a new way of being. Something is being attempted here for the benefit of all.
"Man is a transitional being, he is not final. Evolution is not finished; reason is not the last word nor the reasoning animal the supreme figure of Nature," observes Sri Aurobindo. "There is something that he is not yet which he has to be; he is reaching always towards the something yet unrealised; his whole life and nature is a preparation, an endeavour of Nature towards what is beyond him."
Auroville is to be a major vehicle of this evolutionary thrust and, eventually, a platform for transformation.

The Vision
In terms of physical development, Auroville aims at becoming a model of the 'city of the future' or 'the city the earth needs'. It wants to show the world that future realisations in all fields of work will allow us to build beautiful cities where people sincerely looking towards a more harmonious future will want to live.

The City of the Future

There are twelve gardens surrounding the structure, converging around it in the huge petal crown from which the Matrimandir arises.

In 1969, when discussing the gardens, the Mother indicated that they would have to be of such quality and beauty that people visiting them would experience, physically and concretely, the significance of each garden: "One must know how to move from consciousness to consciousness."

Garden names: Existence, Consciousness, Bliss, Light, Life, Power, Wealth, Utility, Progress, Youth, Harmony and Perfection.

The Garden

The Mother said: "Let it not become a religion. The failure of religions is... because they were divided. They wanted people to be religious to the exclusion of other religions, and every branch of knowledge has been a failure because it has been exclusive. What the new consciousness wants (it is on this that it insists) is: no more divisions. To be able to understand the spiritual extreme, the material extreme, and to find the meeting point, the point where that becomes a real force."

The Power to Materialize Things by Manilla Enquirer.
The Christian Bible has a story about Jesus Christ feeding 5,000 people with a few pieces of bread and fish. Not only did they have their fill, but several baskets of leftovers were collected. This act is considered a miracle in Christianity. Today, the science of parapsychology calls it “materialization,” “producing something out of nothing.” Stage magicians and illusionists, like the world-renowned David Copperfield, can make birds appear out of nowhere and even make a live elephant disappear in front of a large crowd. But they do these by sleight-of-hand, illusion or trickery.

Photo: A Smoke Angel by Astronomy Picture of the Day.

What type of cloud is that? It is not a naturally occurring one. Looking perhaps a bit like a gigantic owl monster, the cloud pictured above resulted from a series of flares released by an air force jet over the Atlantic Ocean in May. The flares release smoke and the resulting pattern is sometimes known as a smoke angel. The circular eyes of the above smoke angel are caused by air spiraling off the plane's wings and are known as wingtip vortices.

Bigfoot Beware by Mail Tribune.
Volunteer Dave Enge and forest archaeologist Jeff LaLande work on the 32-year-old Bigfoot trap near Applegate Lake. "I don't know how they carried them up here," LaLande observed. "Back in the days when they built this, it was still fairly remote. You had to hike all the way up from the Applegate River at that point." Perhaps, it went unsaid, the builders of the legendary Bigfoot trap in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest had a little help from a large hairy fellow.

The free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Celestia runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.

Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy.

All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across.

A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

After a quick play, looks like a bunch of fun. Wish I had more time to play with it - so take a look! If space and the universe is your thing, you won't be disappointed.

If you really get into it, head over to the Celestia Motherlode for add-ons.
