Over the last 10 years this graduate of New York University, daughter of two computer scientists and otherwise rational adult in her 30's found herself spending more money on the services of tarot readers, palmists, clairvoyants and clairaudients (they hear voices) than some young actors spend on their cars. She paid one woman to read the sediment swirls at the bottom of a cup of Greek coffee.

Some of the most spectacular illustration in the history of astronomy. Rich with symbolism, Cellarius' atlas features representations of mythological figures, portraits of astronomers and other historical personages embellishing the technical charts.

One of the most unusual charts in the Cellarius compendium is this rendition of Julius Schiller's Christianised firmament, in which Greek mythology was replaced by figures from the Old and New Testaments and from early Church history. From the Old Testament, for example, Job was substituted for Indus; Aaron for Grus and Phoenix and the Archangel Raphael replaces Toucan and Hydrus.

The Housewives Tarot

The Housewives Tarot is a kitschy "domestic divination deck" packaged in a mock recipe box and infuses the wisdom and mystery of the tarot with the humor of 1950s iconography in style, attitude, furnishings, and fashion. It's a light-hearted gift set for the complete Tarot beginner, or a novelty deck for the more experienced reader or collector.

The Major Arcana cards represent various figures of inspiration and influences of the housewife on her long journey through romances, conflicts, trails and tribulations of her suburban existence.

The Minor Arcana depicts specific situations and occurrences in the Housewifes journey and is divided into four suits.

Cups which deals with the ups and downs of love, relationships and anything emotional.

Wands concern growth and taking an active role in your destiny. All you need is a little elbow grease to get things done. But there may be a finger nail or two that get broken on the way.

Swords tackles the troubles of the mind, quarrels, conflicts and aggression. They can represent mental breakthroughs as well as nervous breakdowns.

Pentacles this deals with money matters, possessions, careers and everything real and tangible.

Ramses III

It is the characteristic of the tomb of Ramesses III that it contains, along with a catalogue of well known motifs completely unique representations of which some present an equivalence to the iconography of the "House of Millions of Years" of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. All these scenes still today in fact create quite exceptional interest in the tomb.

At the beginning of the tomb, the visitor is welcomed by a double representation of the goddess Ma'at reproduced on the embrasure of the door on both sides of the passage (photo MM). Knelt on the sign of the neb basket, the goddess with winged arms, spread in the sign of protection, is associated with the reproduction of the heraldic plants of Upper and Lower Egypt.

Amenemonet

Besides his major title of "Divine Father in the Temple of Amenhotep III", Amenemonet also calls himself "wab-priest", "Lector-Priest" and "Divine Father in the Temple of Ptah-Sokaris". The deceased is portrayed in his tomb accompanied by his wife, the Chantress of Amun, Nefertari, and by five children. Being unable to link the deceased to a known family, we can only speculate as to the exact time when he lived.

In the final scene of the funerary procession, farewell is bid to two mummies which are standing before a stylised representation of the tomb, topped by a small pyramid. Amenemonet's wife, Nefertari, laments at the foot of the first coffin which is supported by the wab-priest Ptahmes.

image

Behind the mummies, stands a stela of which the upper part shows the deceased worshipping Re-Horakhty. The god is sitting in front of an offering table and holds the ankh and the was-sceptre.

Believers turn attention to `indigo' children of the New Age by The News-Sentinel. (English)
Some call them "the children of the new earth" and describe them as an enlightened cadre of children, most younger than 20, who are especially spiritually attuned. They purportedly radiate indigo auras to those who are able to see auras, and their role is to help advance human consciousness toward peace and understanding.
Others call it New Age bunk

Can you have a sex life in the afterlife? by The Seattle Times. (English)
Mark Twain thought about this. In "Letters from Earth," he writes of humankind: "He has imagined a heaven and has left entirely out of it the supremest of all his delights — the one ecstasy that stands first and foremost in the hearts of every individual of his race — sexual intercourse!"
A look at various cultural and religious interpretations. It's difficult enough in real life, isn't it?

Dhammapada

image

Verse 1.
Suffering Follows The Evil-Doer
Mind precedes all knowables,
mind's their chief, mind-made are they.
If with a corrupted mind
one should either speak or act
dukkha follows caused by that,
as does the wheel the ox's hoof.

Explanation: All that we experience begins with thought. Our words and deeds spring from thought. If we speak or act with evil thoughts, unpleasant circumstances and experiences inevitably result. Wherever we go, we create bad circumstances because we carry bad thoughts. This is very much like the wheel of a cart following the hoofs of the ox yoked to the cart. The cart-wheel, along with the heavy load of the cart, keeps following the draught oxen. The animal is bound to this heavy load and cannot leave it.

Verse 2.
Happiness Follows The Doer of Good
Mind precedes all knowables,
mind's their chief, mind-made are they.
If with a clear, and confident mind
one should speak and act
as one's shadow ne'er departing.

Explanation: All that man experiences springs out of his thoughts. If his thoughts are good, the words and the deeds will also be good. The result of good thoughts , words and deeds will be happiness. This happiness will never leave the person whose thoughts are good. Happiness will always follow him like his shadow that never leaves him.

Verse 3.
Uncontrolled Hatred Leads to Harm
Who bears within them enmity:
"He has abused and beaten me,
defeated me and plundered me",
hate is not allayed for them.

Explanation: When a person holds that he was insulted, assaulted, defeated, or robbed, his anger continues to increase. The anger such a person has no way of subsiding. The more he goes over his imaginary trouble the greater becomes his desire to avenge it.

The Dhammapada, an anthology of verses attributed to the Buddha has loing been recognized as one of the masterpieces of early buddhist literature. This illustrated Dhammapada lends itself readily to an in-depth study of this religious classic of mankind, to the great delight of both the scolar and the student.

Treasury of Truth: The Illustrated Dhammapada (English)

1. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with an impure mind a person speaks or acts suffering follows him like the wheel that follows the foot of the ox.

2. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with a pure mind a person speaks or acts happiness follows him like his never-departing shadow

3. "He abused me, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those who harbor such thoughts do not still their hatred.

Extrapflege kommt besonders gut an.

The Visionary Art of Arlenea Willow

Flute Player

A small group of people meet and hold “A Council of All Beings” where they let various spirits of plants and animals speak through them. As they listen to each other, their love and respect awakened, they hear the sound of a flute in the wind. It is the mythical flute player whose songs have entranced others throughout time. They are songs that tell stories, just like each creature has its story and its voice in The Council of All Beings.

Willow’s paintings are as colorful and eclectic as her life journey. The fluidity and multidimensionality apparent in her work transports the viewer into more subtle realms of experience. Geometric patterns, flows of energy, luminescence, archetypal images and ethnic designs are combined to convey the transformational journey we all share.

Using a dramatic palette of vivid crimson, deep amethyst, bold ruby, ultramarine blue and glittering gold, Willow successfully weaves together the influence of craft, sacred energies of nature and archetypal symbolism. When she is not in her studio painting, Willow continues to explore various healing and tranformational methods.

Yet Mawai is one of the most intriguing places in Malaysia. Texas' Blood-Sucking Monster by ABC News. (English)
In south Texas, its frightening name resurfaces in the news every few months — especially after another neighborhood pet or farm animal mysteriously dies. "El Chupacabra," they say, "is back." Parents are cautious, warning their children to stay inside at night or risk a face-to-fang encounter with the chupacabra — a red-eyed, spiky-haired, blood-sucking creature with a green-blue tint to its hide.
