Plants For A Future

Many people find the concept of eating flowers to be a little strange - indeed there are a few who find the very idea to be distasteful. This is rather sad because, as well as providing a nutritious food, there are some amazing taste treats in store for those who are willing to experiment with their foods.

We tend to eat quite a lot of flowers. They usually make a very attractive addition to salads, the only problem we have had with doing this is that the salads can look so attractive that people are reluctant to disturb what they see as a work of art! We also enjoy just snacking on the flowers when in the garden - they usually provide a tasty and thirst-quenching snack. We have not as yet tried cooking with them - they are so delicate that I am sure both their texture and taste would be destroyed.

DVD Tip: Shi Mian Mai Fu / House Of Flying Daggers

Yesterday I saw the movie "House of Flying Daggers", Yimou Zhang's follow up to "Hero". I was Hero's greatest fan and now I'm absolutly "wow"ed again! Yimou Zhang has created another stunning visual masterpiece: the costumes are gorgeous, the locations are beautiful, the music and sound production immaculate, the colour is to die for, the martial and dance sequences incredibly choreographed and energetic and the CG is seamless.

Yimou Zhang, once a photographer and cinematographer himself, has an exquisite eye. You can feel each flower and blade of grass, and marvel at the vivid detail in the costumes. Probably the fight scene in the bamboo forest is one of the best! It's wildly sensuous on a visual level.

If you are intrigued with dance-like martial arts, performed in the most breathtaking sceneries - "House of Flying Daggers" is a MUST!
