Reiki

Reiki is an energy which has been known in the west for only a few decades. It is practiced by over one million people which, when compared to the world population, is certainly little more than a smattering.
To explain Reiki from a scientific point of view we need to discuss some concepts of science first. Scientific validation arises in many ways. It is popular to give a rational understanding of the mechanics of some phenomena based on the logic of `sound' scientific principles.

Reiki, the energy healing system, is based on the belief that thoughts have the power to direct energy—the underlying dynamo shaping the world. Often described as a form of Shinto-Buddhist Qigong, reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese, in the early 20th century. Dr Usui's initial task was to discover how spiritual leaders such as the Buddha and Christ were able to perform miraculous healing through mere touch without depleting their own energy reserves.

Quelle: Wikipedia

Megaliths in England and Scotland

There's more to Stone Circles than Stonehenge!

image
Callanish Standing Stones, Lewis

Stones of Wonder is a Web guidebook to prehistoric monuments in Scotland (dating to the Neolithic or the Bronze Age) which have orientations to the sun, moon or stars. It gives the background to the archaeology of the sites, to archaeoastronomy and to the previous work which has been done. The main part of the guidebook is a listing of the monuments which can be visited, and the best time of year to see them and observe for yourself the sunrises, sunsets, moon rises and moon sets.

The work is based on original surveys, of which full details are given.

Stones of Wonder by Robert Pollock. (English)

This has to be one of the finest stone circles in Europe, if not the world. The mountains of the Lake District provide a brilliant backdrop to its siting on artificially-levelled ground. The stones are large and closely-spaced at approximately 1.5m (5-foot) intervals. Fifty-five of an original sixty remain, with thirty-two still standing.

The tallest stone in the 28.5m (93-foot 8-inch) diameter ring is a slender 2.1m (7 feet 6 inches) high pillar located

almost exactly at the north point of the circle, a feature common to other circles in the Cumbrian region. In addition, there is a recognisable 2.1m (7-foot) entrance at the SE consisting of a wide gap and two portal stones just outside the perimeter of the circle. This is another feature in common with circles of the region (e.g., Long Meg and Her Daughters). Standing at the centre of the circle and looking between the two portal stones in the SE is very close to looking at the midwinter sunrise.

Clyth Stone - Standing Stone, Caithness

Antoine Goodland writes: There is another stone in Caithness which I think is worthy of mention. It is a tall stone in the Clyth cemetry (approx 4 miles north of Lybster) It has a 'Templar' type cross carved on it which is difficult to see unless the light is right. This stone is known as the 'Clyth Stone' and I would like to know more about it as my great-great grandparents Catherine Sinclair and Sinclair Clark are buried beside it. The 'CLYTH STONE' is probably the tallest and most elegant standing stone in Caithness. It is certainly, the least known, being situated in a private cemetery facing the North Sea, in Clyth.

Clyth is rather more a district than a village in this remote part of Scotland and the access road to the cemetery is a tiny unmarked farmer's lane off the A9. (Blink and you've missed it!) The mystique about the Clyth Stone is that it was engraved many centuries ago with a cross‚ which is only visible in certain lights.

The best time to see the cross engraved on the stone is in the morning when the sun is shining from the East. At any other time of the day it is extremely difficult to discern - even if one is right there nose to nose in front of the stone!

More Megaliths? Sure!

We exist to raise awareness of megalithic, prehistoric, and other ancient sites everywhere. They really are everywhere you look, yet few people have heard of most of them. Because they are largely unloved, megalithic sites can often be under threat of development or damage. Not all are scheduled Ancient Monuments, and not all countries respect their past sites as they should.
