Astrodienst

Astrodienst (German version)
Die Rubriken "Astro Wissen" und "Astro Spezial" sind wahre Highlights dieser Seite. Und natürlich die Ephemerieden plus die Gratishoroskope.
Seriöse Astrologie garantiert!

Astrology, having existed for more than 3000 years, can consider itself to be the elder sister of psychology.

Both disciplines concern themselves with the psyche. As with astrology, there are different branches and schools of psychology. Some prefer scientific approaches - if this is possible with the complexity of the human psyche and others follow holistic or alternative concepts. These latter approaches often display parallels to astrology and combine easily with it. Among them is Carl Gustav Jung's Analytical Psychology.

Kuan Yin -- Click the picture for a larger view

In fact, the evolution of Buddhism in Asia and its spread throughout the world is, from a spiritual point of view, none other than the unfolding of karuna in history. Nowhere is this more explicitly exemplified than in the Chinese assimilation of Buddhism. Few would deny that the defining symbol of this integration is the goddess, who with her sweet and merciful disposition, has won the hearts of not only the Chinese, but also profoundly affected even those who, belonging to a foreign tradition, have only had a fleeting interaction with her. This divine female is none other than Kuan Yin, beloved goddess of over a billion people the world over. Her name too signifies her compassionate nature, literally meaning 'One who hears the cries of the world.'

Kuan Yin, The Compassionate Rebel - Article of the Month November 2005. (English)

Khajuraho temples, now only twenty-four of the original eighty-five surviving, are great shrines of love. Devastating winds, torrential rains, charring summers, rocking lands, rapacious hands of man, nature's cruelties and heavy booted feet of time spanning them inch by inch and layer to layer, deprived them much of their vigor - lips of their smiles, eyes of their glow, bodily curves of their passionate yearnings and gestures, and figures of their wholesome impact, but despite they are still amongst the finest works of art that man's creative genius might claim to have ever created on the earth. Whatsoever human imagination conceives, it will fall short of the magnificence that these stone structures breathe.

Love, The Living Spirit of Khajuraho - Article of the Month September 2005. (English)

More significant is the Indian perception of the cosmic act, to which whatever exists- the invisible or the visible, the timeless or the ephemeral, contributes. As perceives the Indian mind, cosmic activity is a totality and all things- the formal or the formless, are obliged to not only co-exist but also co-act, as it is in the action and not in inertness that the existence prevails.

image
The Trinity -- Click the picture for a larger view

Thus, whether as the creator or as the created, in cosmic existence all things have a role. As such, an entity, even when it does not formally manifest, may manifest in the role that it accomplishes. Such cosmic activity has three aspects- the creation, the preservation and the dissolution. Creation is the one time Divine act, under which the cosmos came into being, as also a recurrent activity happening in things- the material and the non-material, whereby they take to new forms. Some systems of thought perceive it also as evolution.

All things- the material or non-material, manifest or unmanifest or good or bad, by which the existence or life sustains, are aspects of preservation. Like creation, dissolution is also the one time as well as recurrent activity happening in all things, as before they take to new forms their old ones dissolve. These three aspects rotate in a cycle, which never ends and is thus eternal and absolute.

Interpretive Study of the Indian Trinity - Article of the Month May 2005. (English)

The word karma is derived from the Sanskrit root 'kri,' meaning 'to do,' implying that all action is karma. Technically, the term incorporates both an action and its consequence. Thus Garuda's karma consisted of the act of carrying away the bird and also its consequent snatching by the cruel hands of destiny. Hence, a deed, pure in its content, led to an apparently unfavorable outcome. Through this subtle tale, we are made to confront a dilemma which constantly recurs in our own lives, namely, the relative impurity and purity of an action. Is an action to be deemed positive or negative solely on the basis of the result it generates? Or, is there some other criterion? Indeed there is. What determines the nature of the karma is the will or intention behind an act.

As is mentioned in the Buddhist text Anguttara Nikaya, published by the Pali Text Society, "It is will (chetana), that I call karma; having willed, one acts through body, speech or mind."

Rennes-le-Château & Périllos

Erst seit rund 50 Jahren geistert das Rätsel um Rennes-le-Château in den Medien. Seither wurde alles komplexer und komplizierter mit neuen Theorien und Vermutungen. Was wissen wir heute?

January 24, 1917: A few people are standing in the small churchyard in Rennes-le-Chateau, watching silently as the coffin of Berenger Sauniere is lowered into his grave. Of these people, how many truly know the secret that is being buried with this charismatic priest ? This question was not of much interest to anyone for the 50 years that followed the burial; yet when the story was rediscovered in the 1960s, it awoke the curiosity of many people both in France and abroad.
From then on the phenomenon only increased, and led to the writing of many books (some more reliable than others), but unfortunately no solution has ever been found to explain the mystery of Sauniere's sudden wealth.

The mystery of Rennes-le-Château first appeared in the media about fifty years ago. Since then, it has diversified and become more and more complex with new theories and discoveries. In this connection you should deal with Périllos.

Périllos has also an interesting history and it seems both places have things in common. For four decades André Douzet investigates the history of the village: Société Périllos (English)

Mike Oldfield

If you are looking for Mike Oldfield like he was been in the past - this 2 CD set is not for you.

"Light & Shade" is almost New Age and many fans of Mike wasn't very happy with his latest album. The sound is a mixture of chill-out (Light) and techno-rock (Shade). For me Mike produced timeless, unique and inspirational music.

Official Website:
Mike Oldfield

Mike Oldfield about "Angelique": "That's the name of one a pre-set on one of my synths. As usual, I start off by just building the music up, and this piece turned out to sound angelic. I can't explain how it happens, as I say I just hit the buttons. I emerge from my studio every three days with a track and I'm exhausted! It feels like giving birth."
Listen "Angelique" (full) from CD 1 "Light":

Mike Oldfield about "Quicksilver": "To me, this is not dance music, it's music with a dance beat. In this particular case, I wanted to recreate movement underwater, with dolphins and bubbles. When I lived in Ibiza, I saw dolphins on bow wave of a ship, which was special."

Blame it on the moon by Anchorage Daily News. (English)
As the Earth's constant celestial companion -- rumored to have a dark side that it categorically denies -- the moon gets blamed for everything, from natural disasters to the fathering of children.
With a full moon rising Wednesday, now is as good a time as any to indulge in a little stream-of-consciousness moon lust. Moon folklore, fact and fantasy.

Ghosts not as scary as usually portrayed by Philippine Daily Inquirer. (English)
Instead of recycled and imaginary ghost stories it would make more sense if media concentrated on providing authoritative and unbiased information about the real nature of spirits, how they affect the living and how the living affect them.

Nostradamus - Time Travel and Prophecy

image

It is generally accepted that we live in the present. The past has passed and the future is still to happen. Therefore:
We cannot change our past and the future is still uncertain.

That means also that nobody can really know what will happen in the future. You could make educated guesses but knowing it is impossible, as that would require that in some way or another the future should already exist.

The idea that the future already happened is impossible to comprehend. Besides, the thought that the future is known, fixed or pre-defined could easily lead to wide spread fatalism.

If the future however, is not fixed, it cannot be known and then predicting it with accuracy is consequently impossible and as a result true prophecy cannot exist either. However, history tells us about many prophets that supposedly received true prophecy.

The well-known prophet Michel Nostradamus, born 1503 in France, left us with almost a thousand prophetic quatrains. The book of Nostradamus has recently attracted renewed interest as people link current world events to his prophecies, suggesting that he knew our future. But how can that be possible? If he really did know, then how did he get that information? According to his own writing he used occult practices to receive messages from an occult source, although he never revealed in detail how he managed to do such thing.

Picture Realm

image

The artwork I create could best be described as psychedelic visionary art. It is focused around the mystical, spiritual and the imagination. In many ways it also embraces the hippy and psychedelic culture of the 60s and early 70s.
The pictures are created digitally and built up rather like an architectural structure. They start with the creation and exploration of a fractal, which then becomes the foundation and background of the picture.

Upon these backgrounds I then build the picture by creating the foregrounds such as planets, trees, stars and people by using layers. In most cases the picture has to move through several programs before completion. After adding various textures and materials to the image and applying the final touches with some of the paint tools in Photoshop the picture is finally complete.

CosmicLight : Science with Spirit

Every one of us has our very own light cone which defines for us the present state of the Universe, along with what we experience as logical causality and thus the passage of time. Every light cone is unique, so no one can ever precisely agree on what is happening where or when. Of course, the differences are negligible except under relativistic conditions, such as near the speed of light or the singularity of a black hole, but they are real and they are there, all the time. The "wherewhens" of spacetime are relative. In fact, since everything we see in space, from our own bodies to the distant quasars, are images from the past, the actual present state of the Universe is never seen.

image

Of Quasars & Quanta - A fascinating tour of the Universe with emphasis on the convergence of modern science and ancient mysticism. (English)

image

That Light is not somewhere "else", not somewhere "beyond" our physical existence, nor is it simply a universal condition that existed in the distant past and is now out of reach. It shines within us right now as the very source of our being. In that Light, we are quite literally unified with the entire Universe. We always have been and always will be.

This transcendental state of unity is certainly an abstract concept, and in metaphysical languages we might have to refer to it as a higher dimension, but that higher dimension is not separate from our everyday experience of the physical world. On the contrary, it provides the very substance of our entire experience of being here now. It is the "stuff" of both consciousness and matter, from our living bodies to inanimate rocks to the distant quasars. If that Cosmic Light were not shining forth at this very moment, nothing whatsoever would exist.

Of Light & Life - Timeless metaphysics within the limits of our perspective. (English)

image

Found by CosmicLight : Science with Spirit
Metaphysical cosmology is generally not taken seriously within the framework of modern scientific thought. This is understandable. Metaphysics by nature is nonobjective, so it is ruled out by definition in conventional science where theories and ideas must remain just that unless verified objectively.

Spurlos.

Ancient Egyptians used helicopters and airplanes for battles? by Pravda. (English)
Well-known Egyptologist Alan Alford left to the Nile banks to study the Abydos mystery. The researcher studied the mysterious hieroglyphs and made sure that what seemed absolutely incredible was in fact quite real. Alford told journalists that ancient Egyptians had depicted a real helicopter model as if they made the engravings from life.
With a little help from their Martian ancestors, no doubt.

How the dead live by The Telegraph. (English)
The book elaborates Tibetan Buddhist teaching on the journey of the consciousness through the three stages, or bardos, of dying; the moment of death, the intermediate state between death and rebirth, and the process of rebirth itself. Central to the text is the belief that death presents the greatest opportunity to gain liberation, and so to step off the endless wheel of suffering that is held to characterise worldly existence.
For the first time in 1,300 years, the great Tibetan Book of the Dead has been translated into English. Mick Brown reports.
Available in Jan-Feb 2006. Definitely one for the serious bookshelf.

Nature Magick

Giambattista della Porta (also known as Giovanni Battista Della Porta or John Baptist Porta) was a polymath who dabbled in nearly everything. "Magiae Naturalis", his first book, is also his best known work and the basis of his reputation. The first edition, which consisted of four books, appeared in 1558; an expanded edition of twenty books was first published in 1589. Della Porta was a hugely influential figure in Naples around 1600.

From Della Porta’s book published in English as Natural Magick in 1658:

image

There are two sorts of Magick; the one is infamous, and unhappy, because it has to do with foul Spirits, and consists of incantations and wicked curiosity; and this is called Sorcery; an art which all learned and good men detest; neither is it able to yield an truth of reason or nature, but stands merely upon fancies and imaginations, such as vanish presently away, and leave nothing behind them; as Jamblicus writes in his book concerning the mysteries of the Egyptians. The other Magick is natural; which all excellent wise men do admit and embrace, and worship with great applause; neither is there any thing more highly esteemed, or better thought of, by men of learning. The most noble Philosophers that ever were, Pythagorus, Empedocles, Democritus, and Plato, forsook their own countries, and lived

abroad as exiles and banished men, rather than as strangers; and all to search out and to attain this knowledge; and when they came home again, this was the Science which they professed, and this they esteemed a profound mystery. They that have been most skillful in dark and hidden points of learning, do call this knowledge the very highest point, and the perfection's of Natural Sciences; inasmuch that if they could find out or devise amongst all Natural Sciences, any one thing more excellent or more wonderful then another, that they would still call by the name of Magick.

Nature Magick - in twenty books - by Giambattista della Porta (I538-I6I5).

Include the origins of ancient magic, the definition of a magician throughout history and across cultures, magic's medicinal applications, plus miscellaneous material under chapter headings such as "Of the Generation of Animals", "Of the Production of New Plants", "Of Changing Metals", and "Of Physical Experiments".
He wrote on cryptography, meteorology, physics, astrology, physiognomy, mathematics, and fortification. Further observations upon geology, optics, medicines, poisons, cooking, metallurgy and magnetism as well as cosmetics, perfumes, gunpowder and invisible writing.
