Sacred Ireland

The Megalithic Passage Tombs of Newgrange, Knowth, Dowth, Fourknocks, Loughcrew and Tara are located in the present day County of Meath on the east coast of Ireland. The Boyne Valley Mounds at Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth were built around 3200BC making them older than Stonehenge in England and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

The Hill of Tara, known as Temair in gaeilge, was once the ancient seat of power in Ireland – 142 kings are said to have reigned there in prehistoric and historic times. In ancient Irish religion and mythology Temair was the sacred place of dwelling for the gods, and was the entrance to the otherworld. Saint Patrick is said to have come to Tara to confront the ancient religion of the pagans at its most powerful site.

The Turoe stone is one of the finest examples of these ritual stones in Europe, there is another ritual stone at Castlestrange, Co Roscommon also decorated with a curvilinear design, but this stone is incised rather than carved in relief. Although known as the Turoe stone this is not the original location, the stone was removed from an Iron Age ring fort, the Rath of Feerwore a few miles away.

Welcome to Megalithic Ireland (English)
Rough guide to megalithic and some monastic and early ecclesiastical sites around Ireland.

For the last ten years or so I have been investigating Chambered Cairns - a type of ancient monument with internal chambers found on mountain tops and hills all across Ireland.I originally became interested in these monuments for their wonderful megalithic engraved symbols, which are the oldest written 'documents' in Ireland.

Magna Canta

Elevate your body, mind and soul with the Gregorian grooves of Magna Canta. Magna Canta transports the listener to a sacred place in the heavens above. Smooth electronica with European dance melodies merged with Gregorian Chants and ethereal moods create an atmosphere of mystery and mystical exploration.

Magna Canta ist neben Lesiem und ERA, die beste Formation im Gregorian-Mystic Bereich, die ich kenne.
