The artist Andy Weber spent seven years living and studying the iconographical art of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of accomplished masters in India and Nepal. His unique style of authentic images for visualization are highly respected not only by the growing number of Western Buddhists but also by Tibetan Lamas of all traditions, many of whom have commissioned his work. His thangka paintings (= Tibetan scroll paintings) can be seen in Buddhist centers and temples throughout the world including the Potala Palace in Lhasa and his images have become well known and popular through numerous publications.
Now with 25 years of experience he and his students offer their artwork and their services to the wider Dharma community.

Megalith

Als Megalithen (von griechisch mégas = groß und líthos = Stein) bezeichnet man die großen, oft unbehauenen Steinblöcke, die als Einzelsteine, aber auch als Beiteile von Grab- und Kultanlagen benutzt wurden.

Vielleicht wird Sie überraschen, daß wir in Deutschland mehrere sehr schöne megalithische Monumente finden können. Noch im achzehnten und neuzehnten Jahrhundert gab es in Deutschland - namentlich im Norddeutschland und offensichtlich auch im Südwesten - hunderte, wenn nicht tausende Großgräber, Hünenbetten, Langgräber und wahrscheinlich auch Menhire, in Deutschland auch Hinkelsteine gennant. Leider wurden sie, im Unterschied zu ihren irischen oder bretonischen »Kollegen« nicht durch einen Volksglauben geschützt.

Es fehlte hierzulande an den mächtigen Feen, die diejenigen, welche die heilligen Steine zerstören, mit Unglück bestrafen würden. So fielen über 90% der Steine dem Straßenbau, der Planierung und Flurbereinigung oder der mutwilligen Zerstörung zum Opfer.

Fortean Times Magazine

Fortean Times is a monthly magazine of news, reviews and research on strange phenomena and experiences, curiosities, prodigies and portents.

It was founded in 1973 to continue the work of Charles Fort. Throughout his life, Fort was skeptical about scientific explanations, observing how scientists argued according to their own beliefs rather than the rules of evidence and that inconvenient data was ignored, suppressed, discredited or explained away (which is quite different from explaining a thing).
His dictum "One measures a circle beginning anywhere" expresses his philosophy of Continuity in which everything is in an intermediate state between extremes.

He had ideas of the universe-as-organism and the transient nature of all apparent phenomena. He coined the term 'teleportation' and was perhaps the first to speculate that mysterious lights seen in the sky might be craft from outer space.

Moving Madonna in Italy

THOUSANDS of Italians have flocked to a small southern town after witnesses claimed to have filmed a miraculous “walking statue” of the Madonna with their video phones.
Acerra, near Naples, is now likely to become a Roman Catholic shrine.
Rumours began at the weekend when several people at the modern church of San Pietro shouted out that a statue by the altar was moving. The hands and feet of the Madonna had begun to “take human form, flesh and blood”.
The knees then appeared to move beneath her white robes, “as if she wanted to move closer to the faithful” and a cross appeared on her breast.
Parishioners said that the movement had first been noticed by cleaners, who had kept silent for fear of being disbelieved.

Psychic Detectives

After 32 years of work as a psychic, Nancy Myer said she's grown accustomed to the skepticism that surrounds her and her profession. The Latrobe, Westmoreland County woman said she's assisted police on more than 550 cases.
"I really don't worry too much about convincing someone, because a lot of people who are prejudiced, it doesn't matter what you say -- it won't change their minds," said Myer, 60. "I just try to do my job to the best of my ability and I feel like the work will speak for me. And it has."

Although skeptics galore decry the use of psychics for anything but entertainment, police departments around the country call on certain psychics when all else fails. They've been doing that for more than a century, and when forbidden to do so, they sometimes use unofficial means.


The first official use of "psychic sight" during a trance in a criminal case was in 1845, when a clairvoyant fingered a juvenile suspect, who subsequently confessed. The details of the case aren't documented well enough to decide whether the psychic was making a good guess, perhaps knew the boy, or actually "saw" the crime with her sixth sense.

Der Pfad der Hexen

Die Bezeichnung "Hexe" wurde abgeleitet von dem althochdeutschen Wort "hagazussa", in der mittelhochdeutschen Sprache wurde daraus "hecse" oder "hexe". Das Wort "hagazussa" setzt sich aus 2 weiteren Worten zusammen: "hag", was Feld, Flur oder Rodung bedeutet. Das zweite Wort "zussa" bedeutet "Schädigende". Dem Sinn nach: "Die das Feld schädigt."
Daraus resultieren auch diese typischen Geschichten, wie z.B. dass wegen dem Fluch einer Hexe die Ernte kaputtging und die Kühe saure Milch gaben. Natürlich hatten die Hexen recht wenig damit zu tun.
In England, wo das Wort "hag" "heilig" bedeutet, war das schon etwas anders. Der heute englische Begriff "witch" leitet sich vom Altenglischen "wicca" oder "wicce" ab.

"Wicce" ist die Kurzform von "witega", das soviel wie Seher oder Wahrsager bedeutet. Fast jede kräuterkundige Frau war damals eine Hexe. Sie nahmen an dem Leben der einfachen Leute teil. Entbindungen, Verletzungen oder einfach nur Rat holte man bei den Weisen Frauen ein.
Die Angst vor Hexen war es, die die christliche Kirche dazu veranlasste tausende Menschen im Namen des Herrn zu foltern und zu töten.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead

In Tibet it is commonly held that death is not something that awaits us in some distant future, but something we bring into the world with us at the very moment we are conceived. Our lives run up against death at every step. However, even the seeming finality of death need not be strictly negative; rather, in the religious traditions of Tibet, death is said to provide a unique opportunity for spiritual growth. In fact, the ultimate aim of Tibetan religious practice is the transformation of death into an immortal state of benefit to others. Among Tibet's many and varied religious traditions are found certain esoteric teachings that address the art and science of compassionate death. To these traditions belong the wisdom of the Tibetan Books of the Dead. In many respects, these popular texts are manuals of practical instructions for the dying, who are immediately facing death; for those who have died, who are wandering in the intermediate state between lives; and for the living, who are left behind to continue without their loved ones.
I am delighted that some of the great treasures of Tibetan sacred literature and ritual art relating to death and dying have been assembled for display. In this first exhibition of its kind at the University of Virginia Library, there are examples of many significant items, both literary and artistic, from the wealth of its Tibetan collection as well as through the generosity of institutional and private lenders. It is my hope that this exhibition will help to encourage more widespread interest in the valuable culture of Tibet so that the world might one day see it flourish again.

This book is the first English language translation of the famous Tibetan death text, The Great Liberation upon Hearing in the Intermediate State. Also known as the Bardo Thodol which means "liberation by hearing on the after death plane" (Bardo: after death plane, Thodol or Thotrol: liberation by hearing), it was originally written in the Tibetan language and is meant to be a guide for those who have died as they transition from their former life to a new destination.

Aufregung um UFO Doku im ZDF

Wer die ESO TV-Tipps in der Wochenübersicht angeschaut hat, weiss es: Am Donnerstag, 28. Juli um 14.15 Uhr bringt das ZDF eine Dokumentation über UFO's und das Rätsel um Roswell.

Schwer empört ist Werner Walter, Deutschlands Skeptiker Nr.1 und Gründer des Centralen Erforschungsnetzes Aussergewöhnlicher Himmelsphänomene (C.E.N.A.P.). "Die ersten Fehler allein schon im ZDF-Begleittext zur Sendung liessen mir wieder ein paar Haare zusätzlich grau werden," so Walter in einer Newsmeldung auf der C.E.N.A.P. Webseite. "Nach der ARTE-Sendung über "UFOs, Lügen und der Kalte Krieg" schon wieder eine Herausforderung."
Walter hat den ganzen Begleittext zur Sendung auf Fehler und Widersprüche untersucht. Er kommt zum Schluss, dass sehr viele Aussagen und Darstellungen in der Dokumentation schlichtweg falsch sind.

Die Aussage von Walter, "Das ist schlichtweg, pardon ZDF, absolute Spinnerei", zeigen seine Einstellung als Ober-Skeptiker deutlich.
Ziemlich harte Worte für jemanden, der noch jüngst selbst gedacht hat, eine UFO-Flotte zu sehen ... Zudem würde mich interessieren, was die Gegenseite - die Beführworter dazu sagen ...

A Woman Possessed?

Shirley Wallace believes as many as 10 demons have possessed her in the past 23 years.

"It’s like there’s a monster inside you from hell," says the 43-year-old mother of four. "It’s a type of suffering I can’t put into words, but it’s like a natural suffering — something hellish." She believes she was first cursed by a witch from Mesa in 1982 in connection with both of them dating the same man.

Räucherkunst / Smudging

Für unsere Vorfahren war das Verbrennen von wohlriechenden Kräutern, Hölzern und Harzen aus dem Leben nicht wegzudenken. In allen alten Kulturen wurde geräuchert, und es war ein reichhaltiges Wissen darüber vorhanden. Den Göttern, die man sich im Himmel lebend vorstellte, opferte man edelstes Räucherwerk. Aus grossen Räucherbecken stiegen langsam dicke Rauchschwaden zum Himmel empor, um im Jenseits um Gnade und Wohlwollen zu bitten. Schon im alten Mesopotamien wurden Myrrhe, Zypressenholz und Kalmuswuzeln als Opfergaben verbrannt und in Babylon wurden pro Jahr fast 30 Tonnen Weihrauch verräuchert.

Es diente sakralen, zeremoniellen und rituellen Zwecken, um Gebete zu den Göttern zu tragen. Man desinfizierte mit Hilfe des Räucherns die Wohnräume, Krankenlager und Ställe, heilte Kranke, parfümierte Kleider und Gegenstände, beeinflusste das Träumen, erzeugte Visionen, verbesserte die Akustik in Kirchen und vieles mehr.

Mir ist kein anderes Buch bekannt, welches die verschiedenen Räucherstoffe, deren Eigenschaften und Wirkung so präzise beschreibt, wie dieses.

Most importantly it really works.
