The Art of Meredith Dillman

Meredith Dillman is fantasy artist and illustrator living in Minnesota. Most of her paintings are created with watercolor. Meredith enjoys painting fairies, woodland creatures and other fantasy and medieval themes and has been drawing such since childhood. She is inspired by Pre-Raphaelite artists, Japanese comics, and turn-of-the-century book illustration as well as contemporary fantasy artists.

Schamanismus heute - Shamanism today

Alexander Alich kommt aus einer internationale Familie: Sein Vater war Österreicher, seine Mutter Indianerin. Nach einem bewegten Leben mit vielen Stationen gründete Alexander Alich1988 in Colorado das FoxFire Institute of Shamanic Studies. Heute gibt es dieses Instituts auch in Berlin und Köln.

Schamanismus ist ein spiritueller Weg zu einem Mysterium, das wir nicht verste-hen können. Seine Wurzeln reichen zurück bis in die Altsteinzeit, vielleicht sogar bis in die Zeit der Neandertaler, als die Menschen sich einerseits bemühten, den Tod zu begreifen, und andererseits Wege für das Überleben in einer Umge-bung suchten, die sie nur unter Aufbie-tung aller Kräfte bewältigen konnten. Schamanismus können wir überall auf der Welt finden. Er ist kein Heilmittel für eine Krankheit, keine Technik oder Me-thode. Wir können ihn nicht aus Büchern lernen, auch wenn wir über die Erfahrung anderer mit Schamanismus lesen kön-nen. Schamanismus ist keine Religion, er ist von seinem Wesen her der indivi-duelle Ausdruck eines unbegreiflichen

Mysteriums. Manche Menschen haben durch ihn Heilung gefunden, für andere hat er die Tür zu einer neuen Lebensweise geöffnet.

Shamanism is a spiritual way toward a mystery we cannot understand. Its roots date back to the Upper Paleolithic period and perhaps to Neanderthal times, when humans sought to understand death and find ways to survive in a physically demanding environment. We can find it in every part of the world. It is not a cure, technique, or method. You cannot read about it, though you may read about others' experiences of it. Shamanism is not a religion; by its nature it is based in individual expression of an unknowable mystery. Some people have found their healing on this way, and others have found a way to live.
